Oregon is a leading producer of a number of fruits and vegetables, including pears, peas, and beans, and is the only state with an official nut - the hazelnut. Oregon even features an official mushroom, the Pacific golden chanterelle, and an official fish, the Chinook salmon.
Oregon also is home to the largest living organism ever in existence - Armillaria ostoyae, a honey mushroom. This mushroom spans 3.4 square miles in eastern Oregon's Blue Mountains, and continues to grow today.
